Crystabel Efemena Riley
With a conscious and unique approach to make up and skin care; Crystabel Efemena Riley is an exceptional force within an ever changing industry.
With an interest in widening the boundaries of make up and decoration, she utilises ingredients and materials with ethical and natural elements. As the lead Make-up Artist for backstage teams at London, Milan and Paris Fashion week she has developed teams operating with a ‘zerowaste’ approach, working for designers such as Issey Miyake, Qasimi, Phoebe English, DI PETSA , Bianca Saunders and Paula Canovas Del Vas.
Her ritualistic approach has seen her work with publications such as AnOther, Dazed, British Vogue, Vogue Italia, POP, Re-Edition, Self Service, i-D, and Marfa Journal, photographers Juergen Teller, Gabriel Moses, Ben Toms, Esther Theaker, Laura Coulson, Lola & Pani, Ekua King and Angelo Pennetta. As well as stylists Robbie Spencer, Raphael Hirsch, Claudia Sinclair, Tamara Rothstein, Ellie Grace Cumming, Nell Kalonji, Ai Kamoshita and Ola Ebiti.
In 2017 she co-wrote and developed the first ‘Eco Beauty’ course at the London College of Fashion. In 2019 Crystabel wrote SKIN(CARE/UNCARE); a Beauty Papers series exploring the ambiguities of ethical and sustainable make-up.
She is currently an Advisory Committee member of British Beauty Council’s Sustainability Beauty Coalition.
